BRAND NEW ALBUMS
RICHARD YOUNGS-Hidden
RELEASE DATE:November 20th, 2022
GENRE:”Progressive” Electronics
WHERE IT WAS FOUND:RYM
SCORE:3.3
Wow…that was pointless.
An electronic scale that is repeated for 20 minutes while in one time Youngs screams “AH” for no reason and in the other he strings his guitar aimlessly, also for no reason.
Someone needs to tell him that he doesn’t need to release everything he does.
ICHIKO AOBA-Live at Muzik Efterskolen in Humble (Aug 25,2022)
RELEASE DATE:November 20th, 2022
GENRE:”Contemporary Folk
WHERE IT WAS FOUND:RYM
SCORE:9.0
Another beautiful project by Ichiko Aoba, this one being a live recording of her songs “Space Orphans” and “Bouquet”. Ichiko’s voice is always marvelous, so is the music, as beautiful, peaceful and relaxing as they can be. I like the interactions with the public. The lyrics are really beautiful. In all words, it’s another great live Ichiko Aoba record.
I love you too, Ichiko.
100 GECS-Snake Eyes
RELEASE DATE:December 2nd, 2022
GENRE:Hyperpop
WHERE IT WAS FOUND:AOTY
SCORE:3.5
Now, i believe this small review may or may not be unfair, but i don’t like 100 Gecs, i don’t like how celebrated 100 Gecs is. And I don't like this EP. it’s not for me, it’s not my cup of tea and i’m never going to like it.
Like, musically it’s not awful, “Hey Big Man” is actually pretty catchy, but i’m sorry, i hate the lyrics on this thing, they’re so immature and boring. But what i really loathe is the vocals, i already dislike autotune and then the vocals are absolutely drenched in it, to the point it doesn’t even sound human anymore, the production is also really stale, it just sounds like any other boring hyperpop album. And really??Skrillex????
Yes, I don't like this, I respect who likes it, I get how it can appeal to fans, but for me it’s just mush, it’s garbage, and i don’t recommend it to anyone who’s not big into hyperpop.
I_O & LIGHTS-Warehouse Summer
RELEASE DATE:November 23th, 2022
GENRE: “Progressive” House
WHERE IT WAS FOUND:Spotify
SCORE:4.6
Seriously??, like seriously. That 's it??
This review will be really shorter, because there’s just nothing to talk about it, it’s the same fucking song repeated 14 times for 1 hour. Every song has the same beat. It’s…REALLY, EVERY SONG SOUNDS THE FUCKING SAME!
It's not sonically awful or anything. Some songs can be enjoyed if you're a fan i guess...I'm just baffled by it, it's literally 14 songs that all sound literally the same, what the hell can i say more? NOTHING!
So, to finish this, I'm going to be brief. Music Boring. Vocals Boring. Lyrics Generic. Production Lazy. Sounds like 2011 EDM album. Me no recommend this.
ALBUMS FROM A TIME AGO
WOLF EYES-Wolf Eyes
RELEASE DATE:2000
GENRE:Industrial. Noise
WHERE IT WAS FOUND:RYM
SCORE:3.6
One of the very early albums by American industrial project Wolf Eyes, released back in 2000, this album has many elements of what they would later do in albums like Burned Mind. This album is also really bad. Being an annoying mix of uncomfortable loud tracks that really have nothing to add. The production is really lazy and amateurish, consisting mostly of high pitched guitar feedback and electronic sounds over sparse mechanical drums, the vocals are grating and just sound like a boring, american impression of Genesis P-Orridge. The only tracks that are somehow listenable are “These Girls of Mine”, being a rather catchy noise rock song and “imagine Yourself as Me”, which is the same thing but more obnoxious. Outside of that, it’s just a shittier, edgeless version of Throbbing Gristle. So, unless you’re a fan and want to listen to this as some kind of hidden relic, I recommend you to stay away from this album.
JUDAS PRIEST-Firepower
RELEASE DATE:March 9th, 2018
GENRE:Heavy Metal
WHERE IT WAS FOUND:Spotify
SCORE:8.7
I scored this album almost 4 years ago, in 2018. At the time I absolutely loved it. I was 17 years old, a big Judas Priest fan, and a metalhead. I listened to it until the very end, even though my old cellphone was at nearly 10% low battery. And I had absolutely the most fun in every part of it. gave it a 9.0, it was the first album I bought physically, starting my 100+ CD collection, so i have an eternal place for it in my heart .
Now it’s 2022, i’m 21 years old, i’m not a metalhead anymore, now i’m more into alternative and indie rock but have a more eclectic taste. The only remnant of this time is my long hair, which I'm going to cut in the next 2 months. I still like Judas Priest, but not as much as I liked at the time. And so I played…And my opinion is pretty much the same. This album is a modern traditional metal masterpiece, the masterful production, the insane guitar riffs and solos that we all know and love about Judas are here in full force. Rob Halford sounds absolutely awesome, he was 66 when this was made, and yet he still sounds like at his prime, in general, it’s just absolutely insane that a 50 years old band, who peaked in the 70s and in the 80s, and that influenced everyone in the metal scene, still would make something so strong, epic and well crafted, when bands with a shorter career quickly start sucking forever by the time they reach 15 years (*cough* Metallica… *cough* *cough* *cough* Black Sabbath…). The only criticism is that it’s a little (and i mean a LITTLE) front-loaded, the first part is obviously better than the second, but other than that, my opinion is unchanged, and the score just fell a little because of a change of criteria. One of the best modern albums by a legacy, a must listen for everyone who likes traditional heavy metal. And an absolute victory for the gods of metal. Keep rocking \m/…(holly golly that was corny).
CLARENCE CLARITY-VANISHING ACT I: NO NOUNS
RELEASE DATE:September 23rd, 2021
GENRE:Glitch Pop, Electropop
WHERE IT WAS FOUND:RYM
SCORE:5.2
Yeah i don’t fuck with this.
This is the latest EP by british musician Clarence Clarity, not his latest project, that would be “UNRECORDED HISTORY”, released last month, Well, i don’t fuck with this EP, and it’s the worst thing because it’s one of those projects where there’s not much to criticize but really not much to praise, the vocals are not bad but they sound like backstreet boys a little bit too much, the production is creative i guess, but it sounds a little too chaotic and annoying, and it’s also not very original, the lyrics sound really vapid but they may or may not mean something else, i don’t know. Honestly, this is a real “nothing” album, it’s not awful, it’s not absolute crap, but there’s also nothing i can praise in here. It exists I guess. Listen if you want, I don't care.
PEGBOY-Three Chord Monte
RELEASE DATE:1990
GENRE:Punk Rock/Pop Punk
WHERE IT WAS FOUND:Spotify
SCORE:7.0
This is a very solid early melodic hardcore/Pop Punk/emo EP. I really like how the riffs sound and most of the lyrics convey a painful sense of sad nostalgia that I really dig. The lyrics of “Through My Fingers” weird me out, for reasons I can't explain without sounding hysterical and insane, and I'm also overthinking, so I will pass it off. The vocals work, they sound really weird and bad, but it really works in the EP’s favour. and the production is really okay
In the end, it’s a pretty good EP, but I don't feel very crazy about it. I really like the cover though, the guy in the cover looks a little like Bezerra da Silva and that, by default, is really cool. Other than that, nothing to say, it’s pretty decent.
AMERICAN FOOTBALL-American Football
RELEASE DATE:September 14th, 1999
GENRE:Midwest Emo
WHERE IT WAS FOUND:Spotify
SCORE:8.1
Probably the biggest, most absolute classic in midwest emo history. And it’s for an absolutely good reason, this album does so much so right, the guitars, the chord progressions, the vocals, i really like how the production makes everything sound here, and honestly, i really like pretty much everything about it. But it’s not my favorite type of emo and it’s not perfect, i found some songs a little too similar, the album feels a little too slow sometimes, and honestly, “Stay Home” is a little overrated. It's not bad by any means, but it’s one of the weakest tracks here. That’s pretty much all i have to say, it’s a genuinely great album that everyone who likes or wants to get into midwest emo should listen to. It’s not my favorite midwest emo album ever, and I can't say I'm in love with it, but still it’s very good and i really recommend it.

JUST A MESS-All Things Beautiful
RELEASE DATE:June 18th 2021
GENRE:Alternative Metal
WHERE IT WAS FOUND:Instagram
SCORE:5.5
The second album of american alternative metal band Just a Mess, All Things Beautiful, released in 2021, is musically a very good album, being full of heavy riffs, progressive song structures and nice atmospheres, as it’s better shown in “Lose Me and Find Yourself” and “A Beautiful Dance With a Chainsaw”, with a pretty good and thrashy riff halfway through. However, the album suffers with the really juvenile and shallow lyrics, a generic and boring vocalist, and a production that doesn’t give the album enough depth for it to be a really memorable experience. Musically, it’s very good, not super innovative, but still worth a listen. Just don’t expect to have your mind blown.
KAEDE HIGUCHI-Beauty MY Jinsei!
RELEASE DATE:June 18th 2021
GENRE:J-Pop
WHERE IT WAS FOUND:Instagram
SCORE:7.4
This is a surprisingly pretty solid EP from Nijisanji VTuber Kaede Higuchi. I really like how catchy the title track is, it’s a pretty good J-Pop song, i also really love how bombastic and epic the last track “Hibikimei (2022 Ver.)” is, it’s an amazing J-Rock, the production is fine, Kaede is a pretty good, the lyrics, are nothing crazy, but they’re surprisingly solid, especially in “WIN-WIN HALLOWEEN”, this album may be a little too “anime” for some people’s taste, but i still really recommend it, because it’s a pretty good EP overall.
SINGLES
METALLICA-Lux Æterna
SCORE: 5.5
Absolutely amazing and fun cover of Judas Priest’s classic “Freewheel Burning”, Metallica really outdid themsel…Wait a minute, what the fuck do you mean by “this is actually an original song”???
MUSE-Ghosts (How Can I Move On)
SCORE: 6.7
I don’t really get the hate. I mean yes, it’s kinda generic and sometimes sounds like a stock song, but i think the lyrics are pretty fine and tell the emotions pretty well, and Matt Belamy is an alright singer here. The Italian part with Eliza is weird and doesn’t work very well. But other than that, unless you overplay it, I don't understand how you can hate it. It’s kind of generic, but I don't think I can call it a bad song.
CLAVISH-Rocket Science
SCORE: 4.6
I hope I'm not being unfair, I'm really tired today. So i’m going to keep it quick, this song has an okay beat, the vocals aren’t that bad, but the flow is generic, the lyrics are vulgar and sexual, which i have nothing against in a personal way, i just think it doesn’t make a good lyric. And the production is also really boring. It’s slightly catchy, but yeah. Pretty disposable song.
JAMES BLAKE-The Wilhelm Scream (2011)
SCORE:8.0
Really beautiful song, with a really good production, his vocals are a little muffled and the lyrics are a little too enigmatic for my taste (although i can really relate with the theme of not knowing what you want to do in life), but still, i really like the instrumentals, i think the production is great, and the song also has an amazing ending. It’s very good, I really recommend it.
NEW ORDER-Love Vigilantes (TV Pitch Instrumental Edit)
SCORE:7.0
I don’t think I can really say anything about it. I mean, it’s an industrial edit of a genuinely amazing song, it’s still very catchy which shows how good of a songwriter Peter Hook is. And it’s not ultra lazy or anything. The production is awful, the song sounds all muffled. But other than that, nothing really to complain about. It’s a cool edit of a great song, that’s all I have to say.
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS-The Shape I’m Takin’
SCORE:5.9
It reminds me of a b-tier Stadium Arcadium song. Y’know, it's fun. I’m gonna give them that, the drum work is very good, and this song in general is pretty feel-good and honestly i can’t understand how someone can hate it. But I get how someone can not like it. I mean it sounds like disco, it’s kinda lukewarm and easily forgettable, the lyrics are…You know, RHCP lyrics, and the singer is Anthony Kiedis, which, honestly i think he’s fine, but lots of people loathe him. Other than that, it’s another “Ok, fine” song by the RHCP. It’s fine, it’s fun, it’s probably great to listen at a party, but I don't have any love towards it.
BROADCAST & THE FOCUS GROUP-Study Series 04: Familiar Shapes and Noises (2010)
SCORE:6.0
Yes, that’s pretty weird, it’s creative I admit that, but it sometimes sounds like a better written, more full fleshed song made for a creepypasta. It’s a bit too experimental for me. Although the production, I admit, is really cool, and the singer sounds like Grouper, which I like. Also i listened to some other songs by Broadcast and it’s pretty good and beautiful, but they haven’t done anything since 2009, i wonder what happened to them? *google*...oh
SPELLLING-Boys at School (2021)
SCORE:8.7
That’s a great song. It doesn’t sound at all like it came out last year. It sounds like it came out in the mid-late 70’s. Which is not a criticism. I get some real Kate Bush vibes from it that I really dig out, her voice is absolutely beautiful, the production is masterful, and the instrumentals are simply glorious. The lyrics aren’t my cup of tea, but they are very well written, in general, it’s a genuinely amazing song overall.
WEEZER-I Want a Dog
SCORE:7.7
Weezer still has that flame inside them. They just need to show it more. Like in this song.
Absolute great mix of the traditional Weezer power pop and the chamber pop/folk from OK Human. I really like how this song sounds, I like the guitars, the vocal melodies, and the way Rivers sound here is really good. I think the lyrics are cute, but a little too silly, and the production could have a little less loudness war. But besides everything, it’s an absolutely great song and one of the best Weezer songs post-White Album.
GLORILLA-Nut Quick
SCORE:4.7
I found this song on pitchfork. And...I don’t know what to really like, I don't HATE it, I think the beat is really bouncy and catchy (albeit very repetitive and overly-simple). But i absolutely hate the lyrics, that are just the same boring sex lyrics, her flow is the same “bad girl rapper” flow that most mainstream female rappers have. The production is pretty generic, the rapping voice is forced. I forgot to put spotify on private so now this is going to be on my algorithm for the rest of my life. Yet, i only feel really indifferent towards this song, it’s just really generic and boring and forgettable. It’s mid, as people say today.
Honestly, I think I’ll pass on this song.
So that's it, no more for you, hope you like these reccomendations bye bye.
