Good Morning my little friends, missed me, I'm Rick, and that's my new blog's presentment (it's probably not that word, ah, fuck it). Welcome to the WIFL, that albums, EP's, and singles, that i see on RYM and say "WHOOPS!, I Forgot to Listen", no more to say here, LET'S GO.
SINGLES
Carlinhos Brown-Juliette, Mon Amour
So, if you're a gringo, there's this guy here in Brazil called Carlinhos Brown, you probably have at least heard of him, he got nominated to the oscars for the soundtrack of Rio back in 2011, won the latin grammy many times, played with people like Shakira, as is known in Brazil as the quintessential music showman.
He's also known for some not so good things, like when he got booed off-stage in 2001 Rock in Rio, or when he tried to make another annoying instrument (in the vein of the vuvuzela) for the 2014 world cup called the "Caxirola", that was just a stupid overpriced rattle that existed for years and you could make at home with a soda bottle and rice, he's also a judge on brazilian "The Voice", and he's like the single most annoying person in that show, and he's just kind of a weirdo in general (not in the creepy way, in the annoying way).
So here's the deal, the 21st edition of the Brazilian Big Brother (BBB), was held by Globo, being a gigantic success and having many great and not-so-great participants, the winner was a rather charismatic young woman called Juliette, now , she wasn't exactly my favorite participant, i didn't watched it actually, but seeing news about it i always felt a little indifferent to her, she did some cool things, like standing back against one of the edition's villain, the singer Karol Conká (that pretty much ruined her career after that), but she was always kinda "meh" to me, plus her stans are annoying and act like a cult (like K-pop or Dream Stans), and i always felt that she was clearly favoured by Globo, in other words i'm not a big fan,
So, she won the contest, not bad and i wish luck to her in life, and what happened after it, well she started to become sort of an influencer on the internet and on TV, there was some wack shit, like that one article on "Fantastico" (a popular televised magazine that airs on Globo), saying that the fact she won the BBB meant that there was hope to the world and that good won (yes, it was as ridiculous as it sounds), but apparently the wackiest thing about this whole Juliette's rise to stardom, is a song, made by your dear boy Carlinhos Brown, this song is called "Juliette, Mon Amour" and WOW. IT'S TERRIBLE.
I don't even think i can really describe how shit this is, i can't even really formulate what's worse, if it's the generic reggae/trap instrumentals (who thought that was a good idea??), if it's the horrible, cringeworthy, and incomprehensible lyrics that sounds really wrong for some reason, if it's the tasteless, completely null and sterile production, if it's the vocals, i don't know, everything about that song irks me in a way i can't even describe.
The only """"""""""""""""""good"""""""""""""""""" part is one verse in the end that kind of has a good flow, but that's about it, yes this is terrible, in many ways, i don't want anything more to do with this song. I give this a...

Twikipedia-Hotel
Brazil's Hyperpop Pioneer, Twikipedia is back at the game with a new single, he already released 3 singles this year, released another couple singles last year, he released an album "die" which is apparently decent, I honestly like his aesthetic, i think it's clumsy and dumb in a really interesting and cool way, i admit, i don't really listen to him much, i'm not a fan of hyperpop at all, his only single i heard was "imallovertheplace" with Dolly, i honestly didn't liked this song too. i thought it was boring as fuck. but then i saw he made a new single, and decided to give him a new chance, it has a pretty decent score, it can't be that bad ri-
I WAS WRONG, IT'S GARBAGE, HOT, STINKY, FILTHY, REPUGNANT GARBAGE. I'M CONVINCED GOD CREATED HYPERPOP AS A PUNISHMENT FOR MANKIND'S SINS, AND I HONESTLY THINK HE SHOULD HAVE JUST SEND A FUCKING METEOR INSTEAD.
I'm in awe, there's literally nothing is even remotely good about it, the vocals are generic shitty cloud trap rap, with SEBii doing the typical ultra-high pitched "vocals" popularized by 100 Gecs (other reason for me to hate this garbage duo), the production is trash, the Earthbound sample could have been a good beat, but it's done in a way it's just annoying, the whole thing just sounds too chaotic and muddy, to the point it's just unlistenable, the lyrics are for the major part (where Twiki sings) just a collection of generic, run-of-the-mill edgy sadboy trap lyrics, almost like it was made by a bot, the only thing that lacked being the lean/xanax reference that could make me completely sure this was made by an algorithm, then SEBii comes in, drops some random Earthbound and Pokemon references that add nothing to the song together with the same Gangsta/Sadboy bullcrap Twiki was spewing in my ears, some rando says some stupid shit in the end. FIN.
AND THIS HAS 3.65 ON RYM??, HAVE YOU GUYS LOST YOUR GODDAMN MINDS????????, AM I'M THE INSANE GUY HERE, THERE'S NO WAY MOST PEOPLE LISTENED TO IT AND SAID "Wow, this song is straight FIRE!!!", IS THIS A COLLECTIVE JOKE, SOME KIND OF PRANK OF PEOPLE PRETENDING GARBAGE NOISE IS GOOD????.
So that's this "song", it's trash, i hate every single second of it, hyperpop is a blight on humanity, and i hope i never listen a song of this guy ever again in my life. the score is:
SCORE:2.5
Ichiko Aoba-Asleep Among Endives
ICHIKO AOBA, QUEEN OF FOLK MUSIC.
Ichiko Aoba is a japanese singer/songwriter from Chiba, her music can be better described as calming, soothing and relaxing folk music, i love her music, last year Aoba made both my AOTY (with "Windershept Adan") and my SOTY (with "Amuletum Bouquet"), and i know it's just may, but i don't doubt she can also make my SOTY of 2021, with this gorgeous song that i'm making a small review right here.
"Asleep Among Endives" like many other songs in her catalog, is a calming folk song, that talks about being in the nature, and being among the nature, it's calming, it's relaxing, the instrumental is simply astonishingly gorgeous, her voice, like always, sounds like heaven whispering on my ear, The lyrics, talk about two people laying on the ground, grabing hands and then sleep, looking at the night sky, being completely overwhelmed by the gorgeous and beautiful environment of said place, literally "Sleeping Among Endives", really everytime i hear her music i get a little happier, it's always so poetic, so gorgeous, so beautiful, i don't think i have any bad words to say about it.
I would give it a 10, but i don't think that would be fair with other songs, so my score is a...
SCORE:9.6
PewDiePie-Coco
Wow, that's incredibly mediocre.
You know who PewDiePie is, no really you know who the hell PewDiePie is, 110 million subscribers, biggest non corporate youtube channel in the world, a platform giant who inspired thousands of other youtubers to make content, a very controversial figure due to some political things that i don't think it's good to talk right now since it will turn this segment into a gigantic essay, in other words, this swedish dude is a beast, a internet leviathan, i don't like his content, i think it's really boring, i think his fanbase is composed by either 12 years old or virgin reddit-addicted teenagers, i think his persona is annoying, it's not the channel i hate the most in the world, but it's also not the channel i LOVE the most. That being said.
This new song of him (why the hell youtubers think they can make music that isn't shit), is a diss track to a kid's channel called cocomelon, that is another gigantic channel. First, about the (obviously one sided) feud, i don't give a fuck, a haven't give a fuck to youtuber vs corporations feuds since the Christchurch Shooter screamed "Subscribe to PewDiePie" after killing 50 people, i probably like Pewdz more than Cocomelon, only because i hate kid's channels, and i think they're a cancer to the platform, but honestly i think i have more things to do than to care about the feud of two channels i don't watch.
But talking about the song, as i said in the first line, it's very mediocre, very run-of-the-mill, pop trap, the instrumental is okay, the production is fine, i think his rapping is underwhelming, but HEY, he's a youtuber not a professional rapper, the lyrics are kinda unfunny and overtly edgy, and has some really bad lines like "Yeah I Saw Your Shit, ew, Fuckin' Cringe (ew)/It's Not Even Funny and Your Head is Really Big (Why?)" exactly "Why?", why you wrote that line and thought that was good, or later with "Oh, You're Approaching Me? What, You Think I'm Nervous (Ha)/Your Audience Is Just a Bunch of Motherfuckin' Virgins (haha)" first of all hahahah nice JoJo reference i'm literally rolling on the floor laughing.
Second of All, it's very ironic that a youtuber whose biggest fan community is literally r/pewdiepiesubmissions (most known as the place comedy gets exiled to die), to call other channels fans "virgins" is honestly lacks a little of self-aware in my eyes.
Then there's the second verse, and the third verse too, which are just generic dated edgy humor, by dated and edgy i don't mean it's racist or some shit like that, NO, i just mean it's incredibly unfunny, ok, there's some verses that made me crack a little ("I'll Spoil You Harry Potter, Wait, J.K, Already did that"), but still it's just very lowbrow humor at best. Also he keeps taking jabs at 6ix9ine for some goddamn reason i don't fucking understand why, like what?, he thinks mocking some completely different things completely out of nowhere makes it funnier and quirkier?. Maybe i'm just a humorless fuck, but i can't see how is this funny.
By the Way, that's it, "Coco" is not a bad song per se, but it's a generic, mediocre, and incredibly unfunny one, that would go completely unnoticed if Pewdz didn't made it, my score is...

Squid-Pamphlets
I Already talked about squid's debut "Bright Green Field" in this blog, and also gave a very great score of it, it's an amazing record, it's great post-punk in the vein of bands like Talking Heads and Can, and one of the best bands of this new wave of british post-punk bands that been coming in the last few years.
"Pamphlets" is the last song of this album, and it's a very great song, i love the atmosphere this song brings, i love the way this songs ends, on contrary of many people i think Ollie is a great singer, and this song is one of the proofs of this, plus it has a great production , a pretty cool lyric, and is a pretty good finale of an álbum (even though it's not as good as the other songs of this).
I don't think i have much more to say about this, so i'm giving my score, that is a
SCORE:8.9
Anitta-Girl From RioApparently Anitta is really big in foreign lands...But i'm not really sure about it. Like, it's a fact she's big in other countries compared to other Brazilian artists, but i wouldn't really call her a BIG ARTIST in general, her only single to hit the mainstream charts on billboard was "Me Gusta", and that's probably mostly because it had Cardi-Goshdarn-B on it, the other singles only reached the latin charts (albeit in very good placements), the other countries that aren't the US where her singles charted are Portugal and other latin countries, like Mexico and Colombia, so i honestly doubt she is the international popstar her fans claim she is, plus (and less important), her pages on RYM are almost entirely composed by Brazilian people, so is the interactions around her on twitter and instagram (that's more important), which makes these claims about her being SUPER DUPER BIG BRO/SIS really really overblown.
But i may be just biased, since i don't like her music.
For me, Anitta songs can be divided in two parts, mediocre but tolerable songs, and ass songs, for no further confusion, it's not songs about ass, it's songs that ARE ass, which easily composes the biggest half, most of her last singles are mostly really unsucessful attempts to become the next big latin popstar in the states, like the Brazilian Shakira, or something like that, and they never succeed, because they always are either garbage, or too generic for people to even care, her brazilian market-based songs are even worse, some of the worst songs of the last year were made by her, on the grounds of BR music, and they're not good, for example there's a song called "Ta com o Papato" made with a trapper called Papatinho, and you expect is very unpleasant garbage, and the only good part of her verses is that they are better than Papatinho verses, which are pretty standard tryhard tough guy trap, and it's shit, and there's other examples, in general i just don't think her music is good. Don't blow up my house Anitta fans, it's just my opinion.
So but going to what matter after 2 whole paragraphs, she released a new single, called "Girl from Rio", this song was """leaked""" (yeah, totally), fans got really buttmad about it, one of them even tried to make the person who leaked it lose her job, and i get it, leaks fucking suck, i mostly ignore them, and they really damage the effort that was put into the work, hell, the main reason Re:Life never got a proper second season is because it got leaked entirely days before it started, it's really serious stuff, and i know how much it sucks, but dear god, it's not like she's going to lose much money because of a leak, can you guys chill down a little. But anyway, she released that song (FOR REAL), on april 29th, and...
Oh it has DaBaby...
Anyway. This is the first single from Korean-American Indie Pop artist Japanese Breakfast upcoming album Jubilee, an album that i may or may not review, but that's not really the point, the point is that this song is unironically a really great song.
I have a soft place for 80s inspired songs, specially when they are well done, and OH BOY, this song is very well done, the instrumental nothing shorter but infectious and catchy, the vocals just may not be the most perfect in the world, but they suit the instrumentals so well, i can't say anything but that i love it, the chorus in particular, is just EARGASMIC, and the production is really soft, and charming, i admit i don't really understood the lyrics really well, but as i can see and think about it, it's about a woman telling her partner to be sincere about the fact he cheated on her, that's at least what i take from this, i may be totally wrong, but that's my interpretation, and i think the lyrics are also really well done, they aren't super philosophical or shit like that, but they're very effective on conveying the feeling the song was trying to convery, and that's always a success.
Anyway, it's an amazing song, one of my favorites of the month, i'm now really hyped for how the album will be, i'm giving it a:
SCORE:8.1
Black Midi-Slow (Loud)
The big boys from the Brand New Wave of British Post Punk are back,
AND OH BOY IF IT'S NOT WITH A BOOM.
The definitive single of their new album Cavalcade, which if i do not, review it properly i will make sure i can make a small review of it on the WITL, and if i'm alive 50 years from now, if this song is not considered as one of the definitive songs of all time, old man me will make sure that everyone involved in music criticism get the punishment they deserve.
THIS. IS, PERFECTION, a perfect chaotic Prog song, with jazz and math rock influences that really fit the chaos the band was trying to reach in this album, AND THERE'S NOTHING BAD ABOUT THIS SONG, NOTHING.
The melancholic lyrics about a man waiting to die, and being frustrated about how long it takes, the deadpan delivery by Cameron Picton, the overwhelming wall of sound that is the instrumentals, the amazing drum work by Morgan Simpson, the production, that makes this song even better, everything makes this song an example of how good a band can be in 2021. I LOVE IT AND I WILL DEFEND IT TO DEATH.
The score may baffle you, but take my small review in consideration, and give this song (and this album) a chance, it's just amazing, i want to say so much about it, but i just don't have anymore words to say about it, so i'm going to be direct, this song is one of the best songs of the year, and i'm sure it's going to be one of the best songs of the decade. My score is a:
SCORE:9.5
aespa-Forever
aespa is a K-Pop girl group, the newest group from SM Entertainment, company behind giants of the genre like Girls Generation, Red Velvet and EXO, they have 3 songs, and this song "forever", is their second song, is it good??.
I saw the minuscle score of 2.38 on RYM, and i expected it to be a complete disaster, but then...It just never came, like i was expecting some super annoying song, that just makes everyone mad, like that "Ice Cream" song from Blackpink, but this...this is just normal romantic R&B, i just do not understand what's happening, i can understand what's bad about it, it's a pretty generic song overall, i'm pretty i heard identical songs a thousands of times, you can imagine somE random western romantic singer sing this, and it just doesn't sounds too weird, But i just cannot understand what's SO BAD, about it??, it just doesn't comes to my head!.
I don't have much to say about it, the music is fine, the production is okay, albeit sterile, the lyrics are fine saccharine romantic lyrics, the vocals are pretty good, but they're also nothing really special, like "fine" is the biggest definition of this song, that may be the worst thing about that, it's a perfectly okay song, and people don't like that, but i don't know, maybe i'm misinformed.
Okay, i heard "Black Mamba" the first single, i'm starting to kinda get why peopla hate this song, compared to the first, this song is too boring, like "Black Mamba" is a really Blackpink-like song, and "Forever" is just kind of a random R&B love song, i got why people hate it. But still as a standalone song, it's pretty alright, it's not awful, but it's not great too, it just a generic ballad, my score is a:
SCORE:6.3
Gorillaz-Gorillaz (Gorillaz 20 Mix)
GORILLAZ HAHAHA!!!!! It's Spiffing, i can't believe any group is like Gorillaz, in the capacity of making some of the fans favorite songs, on one year, then completely shit the bed like a few months later.
Gorillaz, the quintessential animated pop group, everyone likes the first three albums of Gorillaz, Self-Titled, "Demon Days", "Plastic Beach" these albums are all 2000s-early 2010s classics, almost everyone likes at least one song of this album, if you wasn't addicted to "Feel Good inc" or "Clint Eastwood" on at least one point of your life, you just do not remember, you got addicted to "Feel Good Inc" or "Clint Eastwood" at some point of your life. I don't make facts baby.
But then people kinda stopped liking them, like they spend half of the 2010s on hiatus, and then they spend the other half of the 2010s being a musical laughing stock, so people were surprised and pleased when they released "Song Machine, Season One" last year, it was considered as their best album in AGES, and it has some fan favorites like "Momentary Bliss" and "Ares", it's all good, people love Gorillaz again, the 2020s are going to be amazing for them.
Them comes 2021, and they release an NFT...
...Incredible, Damon Albarn.
If you don't know, NFT stands for "Non-Fungible Token", it's a kind of cryptocurrency, that is not a cryptocurrency, because, like a painting, or a sculpture, it can't be exchanged for some similar thing, it's unique, so because of it many people take things or "tokenize" them, and then sell them, for a very good bitcoin money, that things include original arts, songs, videos, memes. NFT's are also like, terrible to the environment, and many people tokenize things without the consent of it's creator (like when some people tokenize art from Qinni, which she didn't consent, because she died last year, so tokenizing it for cryptomoney is kind of a dick move to say at very least.), it's also erasing the story of internet, the "Charlie Bit My Finger" video??, say goodbye to that, it belongs to some rich dude now. So does Nyan Cat, that's literally the internet equivalent of the Bamiyan Buddhas being blown up by the Taliban, that's AWFUL. So it's not a surprise many people hate NFT'S guts. And people with particularly pissed when Gorillaz made it, since, well, their third album "Plastic Beach" it's almost entirely about how Climate Change sucks, and as i said first, NFT's are good to the environment the same way cigarettes are good to your lungs, so most people thought they were hypocrite by doing it.
Then the band's self titled hits 20 years, and what they do. THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE.
So...this single sounds good on some points...Because it's a mashup of the songs on the Self-Titled...A BAD MASHUP OF THE SONGS OF THE SELF TITLED. They got to be kidding me, this is like, some of the laziest things ever done by a major band since St Anger, it's the biggest example of "FUCK OFF AND GIVE ME YOUR MONEY" i've ever seen in my entire lifetime, Cyberpunk 2077 wasn't as rushed as this, Babymetal weird ass marketing is less shady than this, WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING??
So, listen here buddy, instead of wasting your time listening to that middle finger of a """Mix""", you can just go on, and listen to the full album, it's pretty good. Oh, and mostly important
SCORE:Nope
So we already listed the singles, now let's go to the albums and the EP's, ARE YOU READY KIDS??
(crickets)
RIGHT, LET'S GO.
Guilherme Nunes-The Archetype
This is the new and second album from portuguese bedroom alternative rock artist Guilherme Nunes. And i'm actually surprised by how good this album is.
The shitty cover art may mislead you, but this album is far from being shitty, it has some really great moments like the beautiful last song "A Blight Farewell", the post-rock epic "Tara", or the catchy single "Awakened", the post-punky "Forgotten by the Sea" is also other really good song, And so is "Come Close" another really catchy song in this album.
There is some problems, of course, like the production, that while really clean suffers from many of the bedroom-isms other albums deal with, the guitar tone sometimes sound really thin and shallow. The lyrics are kinda cheesy and melodramatic, but still, i think this album is a jewel. a genuinely surprising experience for me, and i really reccomend it if you want to listen some new alt/indie rock from the underground of different countries, my score is...
SCORE:8.1
Bruno Pernadas-Private Reasons
This is the fourth album of Portuguese Prog Pop artist Bruno Pernadas, his first in 5 years, it keeps the experimental sound of his first albums and personally for me, i think it's pretty neat.
The sound of this album is rather hard to get at first, as i said, it's a VERY experimental album, with influences of prog, pop, jazz, psychedelia, exotica, among other genres, it also has many uncommon production choices, like distorted vocals, a very small use of autotune in some songs, which also have a very complex structure, at some points, specially in the start, this album can be described as the child of The Flaming Lips and Mercury Rev, and Mercury Rev was having an affair with Ween previously.
Once you get the sound, though, it's a pretty precious records, with beautiful melodies, great use of instruments like the flute and piano, songs like "Theme Vision" and "Little Season I" being particularly very great at it, but there's also the soothing and chill instrumental "Recife", the long and complex "Step Out of the Light", the interesting and progressive two parts of "Jory", with a good spoken word part in korean in the first part, that is nothing short but interesting, and the first song, "Family Vows" that is a very catchy and poppy song, there's also "Lafeta Uti", that sounds like the vocals are backwards, and they are, it's very wacky but in the good way.
The production is great and the vocals (of all parts) are very fitting to the sound of this record, and they also sound good, the lyrics are okay, when you can understand them at least, my only criticism to this album is that 1/4 of it is pretty much filler, and also the album is too long, i didn't needed to be 74 minutes long, outside of it, it's pretty fire. I reccomend, i also reccomend his other albums, they're great too, i give this a...
SCORE:8.1
Druida-Liquido
The third album by Brazilian Experimental artist Druida, suffers from the same things the other albums suffer, it's just too short to actually have an impression of this.
There are many good moments, like "O chão se Move" or "Vento Frio" or even the last track "Sapo", but i can't really say anything about it, because the songs come and go like some sort of very old memory, it's hard to have an impression of something when it just ends when you start thinking about it.
So, i don't know, it's not bad, the production is alright, it sounds particularly beautiful, and it's an overall nice effort, but it's too short, and many of the songs are poorly evolved, short albums can be great, and this isn't bad, but sorry, i'm not feeling it on this album. my score is a....

Black Country, New Road-For the First Time
This album is a borderline masterpiece, and everyone on RYM is a moron.
The debut album from british post-punk band Black Country, New Road, what a fucking amazing record, i love pretty much everything of this album, the witty lyrics, the dark, experimental instrumentals, with influences of post-rock, jazz and klezmer, the production, even the vocals, Isaac Wood may be no Freddie Mercury, but you cannot say his deranged vocals do not fit this album.
Many people on RYM may talk shit about this, about how this is a "SlInT rIp-OfF," and about how they are "iNdUsTrY pLaNtS", or whatever random bullshit they invent to shit on this album, i know they will be the same people jerking this off in 10 years, which will make the comment section i see now even more hilarious.
Of course, it's not perfect, "Track X" is kinda boring for example, but still, that's easily one of the best, if not the best, album of the year, i reccomend it to everyone, even if it's not your particular taste, give it a try, it's great, it's just amazing, i give this a...
SCORE:9.5
Arooj Aftab-Vulture Prince
This is the third album from Pakistani singer Arooj Aftab, it's also her popularity breakthrough, her first albums had less than 50 ratings on RYM, this one already 1055 rates.
it's gorgeous, it's hypnotically gorgeous, the music can't be described as anything but heavenly, her voice is simply stunning, i admit this is the first time i'm listening to her, but i can already consider her as one of the best female singers of the past 10 years, in my opinion, she sounds like an angel, her voice is hypnotically beautiful, and not only her voice, the instrumentals are also simply stunning, and the great production also helps, the lyrics also deserve a mention, they are pretty repetitive, yet poetic and also beautiful, they really fit the music, and yes this album is amazing, it's almost perfect.
My only criticism is the song "Last Night" that is not a bad song, but sounds off in this album, i don't think it works here, it's a very experimental songs, with elements of jazz and reggae, it's a good song overall, but i don't think it worked inside this album, also "Mohabbat" is just good, but outside of it, everything here is just absolutely amazing, and sounds like it was made in heaven.
Great album, my AOTY at the moment, i give this a...

Vijay Ayer, Linda May Han Oh & Tyshawn Sorey-Uneasy
This is an album by american jazz pianist Vijay Ayer, together with drummer Tyshawn Sorey and bassist Linda May Han Oh.
This album is good, really good, i admit it's not exactly my cup of tea, but it's a great jazz album on what i can see, many songs are great, althought i couldn't call any of them a masterpiece, the production is good, the trio has a good chemistry with each other, and many songs, like "Combat Breathing" and "Uneasy" are genuinely very good.
Still i don't really have any strong feelings about it, i think it's good, but outside of it, it's not exactly my favorite album ever, but there's also no real fails here (despite it being overlong), so i give it a pass.
As i said, a very enjoyable album, a pretty good jazz record, and music that must sound good on a fancy cafe. My score is a...

Iglooghost-Lei Line Eon
Iglooghost's sophomore, has a rather strong start, with the epic intro "Eœ (Disk•Initiate)" and the catchy "Pure Grey Circle" these two are pretty good songs, and sit the tone of this album rather well.
Unfortunately this album really goes downhill after it, after the still good, albeit weak "Sylph Fossil" and "Light Gutter" this album goes on a sequence of 4 boring, meandering, annoying tracks, these 4 tracks (with the exception of "Amu (Disk•Mod)") genuinelly horrid, and they really bring the album down, plus there are other problems, the production is excellent, but really overdone, many songs feel like they're more centered on making a sound them putting them over layers and more layers of textures, to the point there's almost no recognizable sound, plus many of the songs have really annoying vocals and sound effects, which really made the experience way less enjoyable to me. The album starts getting good again in the last 2 tracks, but it's already too late.
The good sides are the production, which i said before is really good, plus the lyrics are really interesting, despite they being a little repetitive after a while. plus some songs are really good, but unfortunately that's kinda it.
It's a pretty average album, if you like UK Bass or Deconstructed Club, you may like it, but honestly it's not my cup of tea, i give this a...
SCORE:6.8
Zen-G-ZENGBEJ
...This is the 13rd worst album of the year??? I don't think so.
When i saw this album by this Turkish rapper on rym, with a Whooping 1.35 score, i honestly and genuinely thought it would be a trainwreck of massive proportions, as a brazilian, i know how much trap SUCKS, on non-english countries, so i expect this to be as bad as i was advertised, but NOT REALLY???
Like, it's not a good album by any means, but it's so absolutely mediocre, i don't even think i have much to talk about it.
The rapping is average, the production is average, the lyrics are pretty fine, i expected them to take a more generic/hedonistic approach, but they're actually pretty okay, they're kinda lyrical, i like it, there's some n-word drops in "Suç Işleri Bakani" that i don't think that should have been said, but different countries different rules, i guess, i'm not touching that anthill.
There's two bad moments i can talk about it, so i heard the intro, then i heard "Mama (Intro)", which is actually a pretty decent song, then comes "Istanbul" and i can't help but notice one thing, here listen to "Mama (Intro)"
And Now, listen to "Istanbul"
Are you noticing one thing??
No?
IT'S ALMOST THE SAME GODDAMN BEAT. AND IT USES THE SAME SAMPLE.
I never saw that in a professional album in my lifetime, HOW CAN THAT BE EXPLAINED WITHOUT SOUNDING RIDICULOUS??, you can say "ow, take it easy, this album is from Turkey", TURKEY IS A PRETTY RICH COUNTRY, they're the 20th richest country in the world, Istanbul is a metropolis that doesn't owes anything to the big western cities, YES, I EXPECT BETTER FROM A TURKISH ALBUM.
There's other things, all songs sound the same, specially on the start, the feat on "Girme Kanima" from, i believe, Asil, is simply horrendous, his voice is so drenched in autotune, it doesn't even sounds human anymore, it's sounds like a broken toy robot, IT'S AWFUL.
Besides that, there's nothing really to say about it, most sounds are okay/meh, except "Mama (Intro)" and "Hüküm" (that are decent) and "Istanbul", "Alev Alev" & "Delalê" (that are just bad).
It's a pretty mediocre and boring album, but it's far from being some super horrible experience, the bad ratings likely come from angry hipster turks that don't like popular music, it's not good, but it's also not that bad, i give this a...

This is a 1.18????
Wow, i don't think i can identify bad music anymore.
Again, another turkish rapper, another album with a super low score on RYM, and another album that is not as bad as the score suggests and just mediocre and generic. I presume this album is VERY overplayed in Turkey, and that many of the users there do not like this album at all, so they all just mass downvote it, plus the turkish RYM users, LOVE traditional hip hop, and this album comes from what can be considered as "mumble rap", and makes success, so, like many purist rap fans, they hate this, so thinking about it, i understand why they hate this album, but i can't understand it while listening to it, as i said it's just mediocre and meh, there's nothing particularly bad about it.
There are bad things, the album is full of annoying sound effects, one of them, that is a girl laughing and a guy with a rough, distorted voice saying something in turkish and "BITCH" gets repeated like 6 times in the whole album, 3 OF THEM IN A ROW!!, of course, after a while i started getting fed up with this sound effect, fortunately it stopped happening when i said to myself that if that sound effect appeared again i would track the IP of the people from this sound effect, then lash then with a whip until they start crying, and then go back to Brazil, due to my arrest and subsequent deportation.
Of course i would never do this, but OH GOD, IF I WOULDN'T MENTALIZE IT.
Outside of it, there's many other things, the production is a mess, it's too loud, sound effects and ad-libs are all over the place, the instrumentals sometimes just disappear, it's done very poorly, the lyrics aren't bad, they're actually very competently written, but they aren't particularly good either, many of them being rather generic, Patron's rapping voice is actually decent, he has an okay flow and really dominates the songs, and some beats, like the ones from "Slam Dunk" and "Jet Lag" actually lowkey slaps.
Like yeah, it's a mediocre, flawed record, but it's far from being that bad, it mostly suffers from a messy production and a rather generic songwriting, but Patron's rapping voice and some okay songs and beats keep it from being a particularly bad album, still not an album i would reccomend to everyone, and i don't visualize this being anyone's favorite album of the year. No more words, i give this a...
SCORE:4.8
Ludmilla-Numanice
I Honestly feel it's kinda wrong to talk about this album in english, since well, it's a very brazilian record, it literally has Christ the Redeemer, it's very brazilian, it's kinda weird to talk about this in english, but i think i will do it just this time.
This is the second live album by brazilian funk singer Ludmilla, this time singing not funk, but pagode, if you don't know pagode is a subgenre of samba, that unlike the samba of the 19th century, it's more festive and happy, more sanguineous, to do a little verbose, after a full century, in the 90s, pagode gained a more commercial tone, with influences of samba-rock, axé and pop, this album takes the "romantic" approach of pagode (literally "pagode romantico"), it's more danceable and electronic in some parts.
As for the album itself, honestly i don't like it very much, most of the songs sound the same to me, like, they have the same structure, the same themes, the same almost everything actually, the lyrics are very cheesy, it's a romantic album after all, Ludmilla's voice is really great, but sometimes it's too full with autotune, with is kinda jarring sometimes, honestly, this is just really boring to me. In a party, in a barbecue, in a summer day, maybe it would be better because if would be more fitting, but now, like, it's cold as fuck here, we're in the middle of a pandemic, where nobody can join together, grill some meat, get drunk in cheap beer and dance, my stomach hurts, i'm going to the bathroom all the time, i'm just not good right now, this might have affected my enjoyment.
It's not bad, on the contrary, it's a very competent album, with decent songs, a cool energy, it will probably be very good in the conditions i mentioned above, and i think fans of Ludmilla and pagode, will really like it, honestly it's not my cup of tea, but it's not bad, and i reccomend to the people who like this type of music, there's nothing really to say anymore, i give this a...
